This project has been evolving for over two years now. It started with a group of parents talking while our kids played together after a library story time about how we all wished there were a children's museum in Augusta. From there, we put together a steering committee of community parents, teachers, and artists, and spent a year meeting and planning what our future space would look like and what it would offer to both children and parents. We considered several locations before we were fortunate enough to secure the lease of the community building at Hickman Park from the Richmond County Department of Recreation, Parks and Facilities for $1 per year. Once the location was secured, we knew we could move forward and got to work brainstorming various possible names and logos before settling on Imagination Station, which was inspired by Hickman Park building's resemblance to a train station. Once we had a location, name, and logo, we were able to move forward with the fundraising stage of the project. We are so thrilled that, thanks to the generosity and support of countless individuals and businesses, we have reached our initial fundraising goal and are able to begin cleaning,  painting, and building exhibits in our new space.  We couldn't be more excited that Augusta is getting a children's museum!
